DILIGENTLY TWEAKING THE BLOG

After some great trips this year including driving around Turkey, getting rained on in Iceland and a month in southern Africa, we’ve settled down in London for a little while to spend the last part of the year working our fingers to the bone on the blog.

We’ve been updating some old posts to add more detail, created some new pages to make navigation more intuitive and dusted off some old photos of us to spruce up our about page.

For the rest of the year, we’ll be staying in the UK sourcing some content we are going to start producing on London and getting ready for Christmas. Paul’s brother arrives from Australia for a month to spoil the tranquillity at Christmas, which we will spend with Mark’s family as one big happy unit. Fingers crossed!

PATHFINDERS ON ASSIGNMENT

This month we were very pleased to get a Lonely Planet feature for our Springbok shot on the Skeleton Coast, and a runner-up mention for our article about the Langa Township in Cape Town. This means we’re now on assignment with Lonely Planet so we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for any collaboration opportunities that fit nicely with our content.

BLOGOSPHERE

The uber cool kids at Blogosphere honoured us with a feature as one of the Top 10 blogs on their #inthespotlight feature. Blogosphere run digital media events in the UK representing some of the biggest names in social, so it was very exciting for two boring people like us to be featured.

UK BLOG AWARDS

It’s blog award season in the UK and first up is the UK Blog Awards. Now in its 6th year, the UK Blog Awards celebrate content creators and online excellence in the UK. We were fortunate enough to make it through the first round so now we need your help for the public vote.

We will send out our voting link shortly; if you have 2 minutes to give us your vote it will be greatly appreciated. Being the new kids on the block we don’t expect to go very far, but we thought it would be a good process to go through.

NEW ON THE BLOG

As you hopefully have seen, southern Africa has featured heavily on the blog over the last month. After 5 days in Cape Town and 3 glorious weeks in Namibia, we had plenty to say. Here are 3 articles you might enjoy if you haven’t read them already.

WHAT’S NEXT?

Before Paul’s family descend on us for Christmas we’ll be busy working on the blog and planning our travels for next year. So far, a Lisbon trip in January is locked and loaded and Jordan is being baked. We’d love to go to Iran but they don’t make it too easy for tourists so this is still a work in progress.

Cheers,
Mark & Paul.
