3 WEEKS IN AFRICA
We’ve just arrived back from southern Africa, cleaned the sand out of our stuff and scrambled over a pile of washing to get our first proper coffee in 3 weeks.
We started our trip in Cape Town catching up with friends, drinking lots of wine, eating in very trendy restaurants and doing some research for a couple of articles we are putting together about the impact apartheid is still having in South Africa today.
After Cape Town we headed up to Namibia for a 3-week road trip.
Namibia was an amazing experience. Rhino tracking, walking with cheetahs, masses of wildlife and incredible desolate landscape. It’s one of those places that feels warm and welcoming, yet new to the whole tourism thing.
With independence from South Africa only achieved in 1990, it’s still new and inexperienced. Balancing the needs of rural farms and wildlife conservation while continuing to build their tourist industry is clearly something they are in the middle of grappling with.
NEW ON THE BLOG
Before we get into our Namibia content there’s still a lot we’ve got to say about Iceland and Turkey. Iceland was beautiful and interesting but ridiculously expensive, whereas Turkey was cheap when we were there and getting cheaper by the day. Here are some of our latest posts from the blog.

WHAT’S NEXT?
For the next couple of months we’ll be staying in the UK, except maybe for a quick trip down to Spain to catch the last bits of summer sun.
